College App scaries

I have gone through college applications several times. The first time I applied to college was as a high school senior. I applied to 7 colleges; 3 in California and four outside of California. The feeling of excitement in sending off your application is amazing. Then there is the waiting. The worry of not knowing if you got in or not is enormous. Then the letters come in. Typically, colleges will send a big envelope when you are admitted and, in my experience, an email if you did not. When I got my first acceptance, I was excited. It meant I was going to college.

The second time I applied to college was for my graduate program. I applied to 3 graduate programs. I did not get into any of the programs. I was devastated. I did not know what to do when I graduated with my Bachelor's degree. I worked for about six months before I applied to an online program and got accepted. I ended up getting my master's and applying to the same online school for my Ph.D.

I learned from my experience that I should not place my value in one application. Colleges get countless applications daily, so they must make tough decisions. I recommend that you apply to a variety of schools. This would help you get a chance to get in and also a chance to go to places you might not have been before. I also think you should apply to colleges you are interested in. This will make it so your transition to college is smoother. I have left an image below about what you might need to know about college.  t
