Fun Facts

I enjoy hiking, running, and swimming. I competed in track from 7th grade until the end of high school, and I do ballet and Irish dance. I'm originally from Wisconsin, but have lived in 7 states over the course of my life-- it's really fun to have so many places and friends to go visit.

About Me

I am an adjunct history professor at charlotte">UNC Charlotte, and I love teaching reading and writing skills. Teaching was always what I wanted to do when I grew up, so working with students of all ages is my dream job.

Experience

I worked as an online-only tutor for another service for the last two years, which means that I'm used to working with both 7-12 and college-age students in a fast-paced environment and adapt to student needs quickly. I also worked as a writing tutor in graduate school and was trained in English Composition pedagogy. Working with Frog Tutoring allows me to use all of those skills in a very personalized way!

Approach

As a college professor and online tutor, I've noticed that most students want to do well, and just need an alternate explanation and/or encouragement to persist through something that intimidates them. This means that I approach tutoring from a skills- and confidence-building perspective-- lots of positive language, and step-by-step breakdowns! I'm also very process- and structure-oriented, especially with writing and reading.
