About Me
Some of my professional accomplishments have helped to stretch me and challenge me towards a structured daily schedule. I was a school teacher the years of 2019-2020 for a school in North Augusta, SC. I have worked not only as a school teacher, but previously as an online tutor with Elevatek12.com, another tutoring company. I also have served online with customer service roles balancing a school schedule when I homeschooled my daughters. I enjoy tutoring and teaching math for middle school, elementary school, and some high school currently with Varsity Tutors. I have a small tutoring business, and I love tutoring online. With the virus pandemic issue of 2020, I taught through online classrooms from March to May and enjoyed it tremendously! Currently, I am learning how important it is to stay in touch with the parents of the students. I also use a subscription for IXL.com for standards within each subject. I tutored children mainly in the Atlanta area and surrounding areas for preparation for the Ga Milestones testing (public schools) in 2019. I am familiar with Iowa and Stanford 10 a very little bit also. Fortunately, I was able to act as an administrator for the PSAT the school year of 2019 in the Fall for sophomores and juniors. I’ve worked with a Christian school, my olwn children and students, young and old students, different religions of students, University students, public school remediation students, and all of a wonderful variety. I have worked with all subjects of math up to Geometry, which is what I am studying now. Every new tutoring session with your child is an adventure, and I find that it is an incredible opportunity every time I get to learn a new trick that helps a student to grasp a concept. I have taken all maths up through Calculus 3 with my degree, though, some of the Calculus needs need brushing up on. I would love to be an asset and benefit to your student's math education!
Experience
For the 2019-2020 year, I taught middle school math and and science for 7th and 8 grade. I also taught 10th grade PSAT and PACT for a time, having a great opportunity to serve. Currently, I tutor for Varsity Tutors about 15 hours a week. I have a 16 yr old and a 10- year old as well that I teach.Thankfully, I obtained a B.S. in Mathematics, and havetaught and did 1 yr of work in "brick and mortar" actual classroom experience.
Approach
When I was in grade school, I didn't place as much importance on math, because of one disappointing year I talked too much. I do wish I had given it more heart, although I did make great grades in school. In college, I chose Math because I couldn't think of what I wanted to do as a trade, but had the aptitude according to what an advisor suggested. I am not sorry at all did I did so, and it has been such a wild ride!
