Fun Facts

I am a Colorado native that loves to snowboard and play hockey, but I enjoy my time in San Diego as well with hiking and surfing. I sing and play guitar, and my favorite television show is, by far, The Office. I studied abroad in Europe last fall, as I got to call Paris, France my home for four months.

About Me

I am about to be a senior at USD (that's a scary sentence to type). I am a biophysics major and am planning to go to Medical School at the University of Colorado. I took the MCAT early, after my sophomore year, and science is a passion of mine.

When I was in high school, I was a part of the both the math and physics tutoring clubs. I got to engage with other students, and watch them progress in their understanding of the subject area as I guided them through the sections they struggled through. It was really great to see them improve over the course of time I spent tutoring them. Tutoring is an enjoyable experience for me, as it excites me to see the light bulb light up in the student's head when they realize that they fully understand the material. Watching the student succeed and gain confidence in themselves and their abilities is invigorating for me and pushes me to help as much as I can.

I chose biophysics as my major not only because of the difficulty and challenges it presented me with, but because of the the thought process it taught me for approaching problems both in and outside of the classroom. I teach by helping people understand the reasons behind the problem and the theories that justify the answers. I firmly believe that by truly understanding the principles and ideas of a subject, any problem can be handled with ease. I am a laid back, easy going person, with a hard working attitude and by combining these attributes, stress and uncertainty are easily quelled when faced with difficult problems.
