I absolutely love traveling. I have been to Kenya, China, Thailand, England, Mexico, and Canada. Every time I see a plane, I wonder where it is going and why I am not on it! I am currently planning my next trip: a round-the-world backpacking tour that will begin in South America and end in Southeast Asia.

About Me

I just graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a double-major in Chinese Studies and English, with a Fiction Writing Emphasis. I am married to my best friend and traveling partner, am contagiously passionate about seeing people reach their full, God-given potential, and I love dancing!

From 2012-2013 I lived in Chengdu China studying Chinese and Chinese Culture. During this year abroad, I tutored a number of Chinese people in English. I tutored one-on-one with children, in small groups with students, and in large groups at what is called an "English Corner". My sister was home schooled for a number of years, and during this time I often helped her with reading, writing, and basic math.

My personal investment in my own education didn't really begin until I began to make personal connections with my teachers. When I realized that they saw great potential in me, I immediately wanted to rise to be the person I knew I could be. For me, washington/washington/tacoma">tacoma">tutoring comes down to a personal connection surrounding education. A student, whether in elementary school, junior high, or high school, isn't going to care what I have to say unless I say things in a way that they can understand and I go out of my way to connect with them.
