About Me

I graduated from The Ohio State University in May 2014 with a B.A. in Public Affairs and minors in English and Political Science. Now, I work part time at a refugee agency, where I work in an after school columbus">tutoring program with K-8 students, and where I write grants. I am in process of applying to graduate programs in International Affairs so I can pursue a career in conflict resolution and academia.

Experience

Presently, I work with refugee and immigrant youth (K - 8th) in an after school columbus">tutoring program.

While in high school, I tutored underclassmen students in Spanish I and Spanish II. During my time as an undergraduate, I served as a mentor to incoming and new students through Humanities Scholars and the Office of International Affairs. Right after graduating from OSU, I worked with gifted middle school students at Duke TIP’s summer studies program in San Antonio, Texas.

Approach

As a columbus">tutor, creating small goals and keeping track of learning accomplishments is important to me. I work with students to create task and goal lists so that progress looks and feels attainable. Adding context to school assignments is really crucial. I work to fit isolated tasks into greater contexts that are meaningful and recognizable to students.
