Fun Facts

Everyone has something that they collect, but my favorite things (to some) are a little unconventional: quotes, maps, and rocks from places I have hiked. Also, for my 19th birthday a few years ago, I planned and executed a 9-day solo road trip from Florida to Colorado and back, ultimately hitting 9 states. That same year, I studied abroad in Prague and went on day trips all over the country, in addition to trekking Hungary and Croatia.

About Me

I am a Cum Laude graduate of International Studies hailing from the University of Florida. While I was there, I earned two minors--East-Central European Studies and Geography--and was awarded the Dean's Medal for Excellence in the Liberal Arts and Sciences. I was awarded two Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) scholarships from the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, I won the 2020 Yonkers Honda Inspiration Scholarship. I also graduated high school with a 7.4 weighted GPA, an A.A. degree, and an AP Scholar with Distinction.

Experience

In high school, I would tutor my peers in AP World History and review their essays in AP Language and Composition. Once in college, I reviewed senior research papers on topics in International Relations, not only for grammatical errors and clarity but also for meaningful suggestions on how to make a stronger argument.

Approach

I greet my tutees with positivity and patience. At the beginning of each session, I have the student pose the questions they have. By the end, I have them answer their question with what they have learned. This proves to them that they can tackle difficult concepts and builds their confidence as a learner. I use open-ended questions to encourage independent thinking and probe responses further to ensure comprehension.
