Fun Facts

Although I no longer play in an ensemble, I have a very strong passion for music, especially for finding new songs to add to my library. My favorite band is Bastille! For me, time is best spent with my friends, even if just sitting at home on the couch and talking. I love making cheesecakes and I have a pet chicken named Betsy!

About Me

I am a freshman at Santa Clara University with a Biology-Spanish double major. I hope to use my studies over the next years in order to pursue a career in the medical field. Along the way, I also aim to use my passion for my majors was well as other disciplines like music to connect with my community as well as branch out to other communities outside my own.

After having been a student in the Kumon math department for over a decade, I worked as a tutor of Math and Reading for 3 years during high school. Because the program is designed around individual learning, my role as a teacher was to help students come to the solutions on their own by giving them tips along the way. In addition, I monitored students' learning to make sure they were on track and focused while doing their work. In addition, this past summer I worked as a private Spanish tutor for a high school student entering Spanish 4. I designed a curriculum for the student which included grammar lessons as well as a focus on reading-comprehension/california/san-jose">reading comprehension.

My experience at Kumon has taught me the importance of self-determination. As a tutor, it is my goal to motivate my students and allow them to feel excited about their subject matter. My approach is based on the individual student and his/her interests and learning habits. Each student is different and it is essential as a tutor to understand the student in order to help them. For students, we often forget that they feel just as proud of themselves as we do when they struggle through a problem. With the right direction and discipline, there is no limit to what any student can achieve.
