Fun Facts
A few fun facts about me are that I am passionate about the outdoors, music and learning. And when I say learning, I mean about all sorts of things! I believe I have a genuine and innate curiosity that drives me to try new things and visit new places. I usually spend my summers out in California's wildernesses, getting lost in some of the most beautiful places on Earth for weeks at a time.
About Me
I am a newly admitted UCSD transfer student from Los Angeles. I left my community college with a 3.9 cumulative GPA and was on the President's Honor Roll for the last three semesters and the Dean's Honor Roll for the last five. I have always worked while attending school, and I pride myself on my exceptional ability to handle work and school simultaneously. Upon completion of my degree in economics and subsequent graduate and postgraduate education, I hope to be a university professor.
With respect to tutoring experience, I have plenty. After working as a playground supervisor where I aided students in completing homework, I decided to head into the classroom as a teacher's aide. While working in the classroom, the ability to provide accurate and easily understandable, supplemental instruction was essential. From here my interest in educating others blossomed. I began privately tutoring grades 3-12 in areas such as reading-comprehension/california/san-diego">reading comprehension, math (elementary arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra I and II, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus), writing, and history. Shortly thereafter I was asked by my former economics instructor to become a tutor at my community college. Here, I worked with adults to help them better grasp the basic principles of micro and macroeconomics.
My methodology centers on a multi-faceted approach to tutoring that involves an interpersonal connection with the tutee, thorough understanding of the subject matter, and analytical skills that enable me to target areas for improvement and effectively resolve these difficulties. In retrospect, I believe the teachers and tutors who were most effective for me were the ones who were able to develop a genuine relationship. For me, this helped to foster an encouraging environment that was conducive to learning. Furthermore, I believe it to be critical for a tutor to thoroughly understand the subject matter in order to provide several different ways to visualize concepts. Lastly, it is the responsibility of
