Fun Facts

I love cooking for people, and reading history, and historical and realistic fiction, I love the mountains, hiking, kayaking, and canoeing. I have taught and traveled outside the United States for thirty years. I have produced and directed upper school plays. I have written and self-published a Russian/English cookbook, which sold over 250 copies in Kazakhstan.

About Me

I am currently living and working in Tirana, Albania (EST + 6 or CET) during the school year with my husband. I live in Concord, NC during the summer. We have four children born 1997-2006. I have taught in a variety of situations - classroom, special courses, tutoring in almost every subject (math, reading, writing, cultural studies, life science, earth science, biology at the college level, elementary science, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, ESL) at almost every grade level from elementary through college. I would be willing to work remotely while in Albania. I prefer one-on-one so I can tailor my approach to each individual student. I have lived and worked outside the U.S. since 1994. My home base is North Carolina, though I grew up in Connecticut.
I earned a B.A. at Williams College and a M.S. in Biology at Ohio University. I have TEFL certification through The Royal Society of Arts and a Middle School Education Certificate through Liberty University. I am a Life Sciences grades 7-12 teaching license.

Experience

I have worked as a tutor, classroom teacher, and advisor in various educational settings - New Jersey, Kazakhstan, China, Republic of Georgia, and Tirana, Albania. I have tutored math, English, and ESL. I have taught all subjects in 5th through 8th grade. I have also taught Algebra, Geometry, World Geography, and World History at the high school level.
I led student excursions, produced & directed plays, helped organized major charity events as part of the Beta Club.

Approach

I have always loved learning and wanted to help others experience the joy of learning and discovering the world around them. My approach varies depending on the needs of the student and their particular strengths and unique abilities.
