Fun Facts
I love the outdoors and facts about nature! I have a very strong passion for educating others and especially working with children. I love seeing my students meet new goals and celebrate their progress.
About Me
I have been a teacher in some capacity for the past 7 years and have loved every minute of it! I am currently taking a step back from classroom teaching as I settle into my role as a new mother, but I still wish to continue helping and educating others. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA and a dual certification in Elementary and education/kentucky/louisville">Special Education from the louisville">University of Louisville. I have worked with all ages and pride myself on my patience and my ability to meet a variety of learning abilities.
Experience
I have taught pre-school, 1st, 4th, 5th, and 7th grade. Among these grade levels, I taught the following subjects in whole group and small group settings - Math, Science, Art, Social Studies, Writing, Reading, and Reading Intervention.
While working as a 4th-grade classroom teacher, I participated in our school's before-and-after-school tutoring program, as well as teaching during summer school. These responsibilities involved setting up differentiated small groups and individualised instruction
Approach
Growing up, I had a pretty unorthodox education, I attended a small private school that believed in delivering teaching as a very "one-size-fits-all" approach. Myself and others who struggled to learn in classical conditions (I.e., teacher/lecture style, little to no student engagement or hands-on approach) tended to fall behind. Eventually, through the help of tutors, I was able to catch up. This upbringing helped shape my philosophy of teaching - that learning is as unique as we are.
