Fun Facts
If there's one thing you should know about me, it is that I love to read! I especially enjoy reading fantasy books and immersing myself in new worlds. That's why it is especially rewarding to teach students to read, it is so special to watch them grow to love reading the same way I have!
About Me
I am a recent graduate of American University with a major in Elementary Education. I completed my practicum semester in a third-grade classroom, and my student teaching in a fourth-grade math class! I plan to teach at a DC Public School this upcoming year, but have also enjoyed my prior tutoring experiences and hope to continue this as well!
Experience
Throughout my time at American University, I have been offered many opportunities to grow my teaching practice. I have tutored kindergarten, second grade, and fourth grade students through classes and programs offered at American University. I have also taught third-grade lessons during my practicum semester and completed a full takeover of a fourth-grade math class during my student teaching semester. Additionally, during my student teaching semester, I was allowed to teach.
Approach
As a child, I was eager to learn, but I experienced a lot of anxiety surrounding school. I was fearful of the embarrassment and shame that would occur if I got answers to questions wrong, and therefore did not push myself to be the best student I could be. Even as an adult, this is a mentality that I have to fight to combat. Because of this, I want to create a classroom environment that is safe, comfortable, and welcoming.
