Fun Facts
In my free time, I enjoy crocheting and collage. I also love film (especially horror), sitcoms, and music of all genres. Although I am not a good singer, I love karaoke. I am the eldest of three siblings, and I am close with my family. I am originally from Maryland and will be moving to Los Angeles in August.
About Me
I am a recent graduate of Occidental College where I studied math and sociology. I was on the Dean's List for 4 semesters. I have extensive tutoring experience and strong interpersonal and communication skills. My dream is to do math for community organizing and work towards social justice using data and/or statistics.
Experience
I have about 7 years of on-and-off tutoring experience. As a private math tutor, I worked one-on-one with students on first-grade math through Calculus I. As an academic tutor with my college's Neighborhood Partnership Program, I supported two class sessions (Algebra 2 and Geometry) at the Obama Global Prep Academy public school in Los Angeles, helping students understand the material and complete their classwork.
Approach
Improving students' confidence in math is of utmost importance, so I ensure that I use positive reinforcement and offer reassurance. I tailor my approach to each student to ensure they receive the maximum benefit possible. My typical approach is to use students' homework as a guide for the material we focus on. I collaborate with students and their families to tailor a tutoring plan for the student's needs and goals.

College Algebra Tutoring
I earned an A grade in Linear Algebra and Discrete Math. These are subjects that were required for my mathematics major.
Pre Calculus Tutoring
I took pre-calculus in high school and earned an A. I also worked as a grader for Unified Pre-Calculus and Calculus I for one semester. I have tutored pre-calculus for one hour per week for two semesters.
Calculus I Tutoring
I took AP Calculus AB in high school and earned a 5 on the AP exam. I have tutored Calculus I for three different students, for 1 hour per week each, over three years.
Math Tutoring
I majored in mathematics and earned a 3.53 major GPA. I have tutored math for about 7 years.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
As a mathematics major, I have excellent math skills and have demonstrated mastery of material including algebra and pre-algebra. I have tutored one student in pre-algebra for one hour per week over one school year. The student was able to increase his mastery of the material, become more confident and comfortable with math, and get better grades in math class.
