Fun Facts

Math isn't the only thing I love! I am happy learning its applications in other fields, particularly the sciences. I enjoy literature, board games, and bicycle rides too!

About Me

I am an evidence control technician at a toxicology laboratory, where I manage all types of toxicological evidence, from biological samples to unknown substances and everything in between. I graduated from CSU Sacramento with a BA in Mathematics and a 3.9 GPA.

Experience

While I was in college, I organized study sessions early with my peers. This began as a way for me to get ahead in my classes, as at the beginning of my academic career, I lacked confidence and struggled with some of the material. Eventually, I was not only the leader of these study groups, but I also became a tutor to my classmates and ultimately helped dozens of people learn the subjects they were struggling with themselves.

Approach

I was not born good at math. I wasn't even all that good at it until college. I struggled with it since elementary school. It took a lot of time and patience with myself to finally understand what mathematics is. Once it clicked for me and I had that aha! moment, I have been passionate about showing others how to understand it too. My approach to teaching strives to help with the comprehension of the underlying concepts, rather than problems on an individual level.

Pre Calculus Tutoring

I tutored precalculus for two years in the math lab after I learned an A in the class. I understand the material that comes after this course and how the subjects covered throughout will apply later in mathematics. There are some tricky parts to precalculus, but I learned a few tricks that make handling complex fractions, series and sequences, and trigonometric functions much more approachable to the student.

Calculus I Tutoring

Calculus is a great love of mine. I took 8 calculus courses throughout my college career: Calculus I, II, and III; Vector Calculus; Differential Geometry; Complex Analysis; and Real Analysis I and II. I truly enjoy talking about the topics and helping people understand the nuanced beauty behind these concepts.

Calculus 2 Tutoring

Calculus is a great love of mine. I took 8 calculus courses throughout my college career: Calculus I, II, and III; Vector Calculus; Differential Geometry; Complex Analysis; and Real Analysis I and II. I truly enjoy talking about the topics and helping people understand the nuanced beauty behind these concepts.

Calculus 3 Tutoring

Calculus is a great love of mine. I took 8 calculus courses throughout my college career: Calculus I, II, and III; Vector Calculus; Differential Geometry; Complex Analysis; and Real Analysis I and II. I truly enjoy talking about the topics and helping people understand the nuanced beauty behind these concepts.

Linear Algebra Tutoring

Linear Algebra is such an important subject in mathematics, especially for those going further into science and engineering. I took 4 courses in modern algebra: Linear Algebra, Advanced Linear Algebra, and Abstract Algebra I and II. There's a lot to cover and it can be especially difficult for students who don't possess enough mathematical maturity. I've helped many people come to understand the topics covered in algebra courses, from matrix algebra to vector spaces.

Pre Algebra Tutoring

Prealgebra is the fundamental to gaining perspective on how mathematics will be introduced in later classes. Introducing key concepts like number systems, the Cartesian plane, and variable manipulation, this subject is foundational to not just algebra, but all the math concepts to come.

Algebra Tutoring

Algebra, at its core, is the study of symmetries. It's when we introduce the idea of equations, very important theorems and concepts, including the quadratic formula, point-slope form, functions, the real number line, exponents, and polynomials. I took 4 courses in modern algebra: Linear Algebra, Advanced Linear Algebra, and Abstract Algebra I and II.

Algebra II Tutoring

Algebra, at its core, is the study of symmetries. It's when we introduce the idea of equations, very important theorems and concepts, including the quadratic formula, point-slope form, functions, the real number line, exponents, and polynomials. I took 4 courses in modern algebra: Linear Algebra, Advanced Linear Algebra, and Abstract Algebra I and II.

Calculus AP Tutoring

Calculus is a great love of mine. I took 8 calculus courses throughout my college career: Calculus I, II, and III; Vector Calculus; Differential Geometry; Complex Analysis; and Real Analysis I and II. I truly enjoy talking about the topics and helping people understand the nuanced beauty behind these concepts.

Statistics Tutoring

Statistics can be seem complicated subject, but really it's just following an algorithms on data sets! It can appear intimidating, and it certainly requires patience, but understanding the theorems and how to apply statistical models is key to simplifying the material. I took 2 statistics courses in college and 1 class called linear programming, which utilizes some statistical principles in optimizing linear functions.
