I volunteered as a beginner's ESL tutor at the Haitian Community Center and enjoy reading good books. I speak Haitian Creole fluently and have a good grasp of the French language.
About Me
I am an AmeriCorps alumna from the Joyful Readers program, with about a year of experience as a reading tutor for at-risk K-3 students using the Wilson science of reading curriculum. I hold a BA in English with a writing concentration from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and have worked with preschool and school-age children as a behavior technician.
Experience
As a member of the Joyful Readers program, I tutored 20 students daily in groups of 2, focusing on phonemic awareness, decoding and phonic skills, word recognition, and reading fluency skills.
Approach
My teaching approach focuses on students, tailoring lessons to their needs and learning styles.

French Tutoring
I attended primary school in Haiti, where they speak French and Haitian Creole. Although I have lived in the US for over 25 years, I still have a great grasp of conversational and intermediate French.
