One passion people quickly learn about me is my love for the outdoors. I love to hike, garden, and sometimes even kayak. I am the middle child of 3 and originally from North Carolina.
About Me
I graduated with my teaching degrees in 2019 and have worked in education/maryland/baltimore">special education ever since, with experience at all grade levels now. I am currently in charge of running a resource program for special ed inclusion at a high school.
Experience
I have worked at the middle and elementary level in the school’s autism program with some intervention into inclusion. As well as now for 2.5 years at the high school level in special ed inclusion. I have experience working with students with disabilities, but also their non-disabled peers. I have experience helping to modify the general education curriculum to suit the needs of diverse groups of students.
Approach
My approach is to presume competence. I think high expectations with high levels of support are the best approach and can be adapted to individual students’ needs. It’s also important to have a warm and compassionate approach as relationship building sets the foundation for learning.
