Fun Facts
A fun fact about me is that I love to play soccer. I've been playing all my life and had the chance to play in college, though I didn't take it. I somewhat regret that I didn't continue my career in the sport, but I've lived and learned a lot outside of this community!
About Me
I recently graduated from Boston College with a degree in science/oregon/portland">computer science and mathematics. Throughout my time in college, I have had the opportunity to obtain administrative and teaching experience by working as an office assistant for the school's residential life department and as a teaching assistant for a computer systems course. I have also spent a few years offering private tutoring services to middle and high school students. Given my degree, I am comfortable working in various programming languages like Python, C, and Java. I have used these skills to build a couple of different projects related to operating systems and networking. My experiences are not limited to the sciences, and I feel that I am a relatively well-rounded student, having taken many courses in other disciplines that I was interested in, like psychology, theology, and sociology. Currently, I am spending a lot of time developing a homelab to learn more about cybersecurity and am planning to attend graduate school at Georgia Tech for science/oregon/portland">computer science in the coming spring.
Experience
My desire to support and foster communities of learning has been on the back of my mind for some time now, but I've struggled to find spaces to direct my passion. I've private tutored middle/high school students in various math subjects for a few years now, and I have been a science/oregon/portland">computer science teaching assistant at Boston College, but I've always felt the desire to do more. Occasionally, meeting with students to help with homework or to explain difficult concepts is always a rewarding endeavor.
Approach
Although I haven't had any formal teaching in larger classrooms, I am happy to talk about the teaching style I've implemented while tutoring. A large part of my methodology is that I try to prioritize making my lessons as interactive as possible. While certain topics take longer to explain than others, I believe the worst lectures are the ones where the professor talks at you and doesn't provide you with any opportunities to apply your knowledge.
