Fun Facts

I am the oldest of five, so I'm used to being responsible for people. I aspire to build genuine connections with others, and I'm always happy to be a shoulder to lean on in times of distress. I enjoy reading books and solving puzzles. My favorite book to read is the Bible.

About Me

I'm a rising sophomore at Howard University, majoring in science/connecticut/shelton">computer science, and I would like to utilize my skills in math and science to benefit the next generation. I believe there should be more of an emphasis on education, especially in underrepresented communities. My goal is to provide quality service to those looking to increase their knowledge.

Experience

I started a small tutoring organization on campus called #GetHelp. It was designed to be a help for students by students. I was able to tutor around 5 students during the semester, ranging from subjects in calculus to college algebra.

Approach

I like to ask a lot of questions when I'm tutoring people, and I tend to lead people to an answer instead of giving it outright. I try to be as patient as possible and give students a chance to truly think through the problem ahead of them. I emphasise problem-solving strategies that can be used in a variety of subjects.

College Algebra Tutoring

The Highest Math course I have taken is Calculus 2, and I've reviewed with students before college algebra 1 and 2. I'm well-versed in the subject of algebra as I taught my brothers the fundamentals before they took the class to prepare them better.

Calculus I Tutoring

Took Calculus in High School and College. Very familiar with the basics of Calculus 1 and how to give others a firm understanding of the material.

Calculus 2 Tutoring

Took Calculus 2 in my last semester of college and finished with an 89.5 average. Took a lot of time hammering out the concepts and theory behind a lot of the proofs we use. Able to properly explain why each step is being done in any given problem.

Math Tutoring

Math is one of my favorite school subjects and I'm always excited to help other people understand the subject better. I have a firm understanding of the why for math, and I'm able to clearly express it's importance to real world problems.

Physics I Tutoring

Physics is my favorite subject of all time. I truly love uncovering the rules and laws of the physical world. I've never scored below a 90 on any physics exam I've had, and was a help to my classmates in studying for the final exam.

Computer Programming Tutoring

I'm well-versed in problem-solving and using code to respond to different needs that people have. I like to teach code using hands-on learning with a project-based approach. I've also done well in all my coding-related classes and was told by the teachers to have a "knack" for coding.

Pre Algebra Tutoring

Pre-Algebra is such an important topic in building a foundation for all the higher levels of math. Without a firm base, everything can crumble when you get more complex. I intend to focus on this foundation to give students more confidence in tackling higher forms of math.

Algebra II Tutoring

Algebra 2 is one of the most equation-heavy subjects, and it forces students to be sound in their calculations and step-by-step process. Algebra 2 is a cornerstone for almost all of Calculus 1 and 2. My goal is to teach students the importance of the basics before dealing with more complex problems.

Calculus Tutoring

Took Calculus in High School and College. Very familiar with the basics of Calculus 1 and how to give others a firm understanding of the material. I also taught students during the semester, Calculus 1, and helped them improve their test scores.

Calculus AP Tutoring

I took the AP test when I was in High School, so I'm well aware of how to prepare for it and the skills College Board is looking for in students. It's not to much different then other calculus courses but they emphasize the understanding of the concepts rather then knowing how to solve the equations.

Physics Tutoring

Physics is my favorite subject of all time. I truly love uncovering the rules and laws of the physical world. I've never scored below a 90 on any physics exam I've had, and was a help to my classmates in studying for the final exam. Physics is a subject where you are required to understand the rules and laws of a topic and use that to make inferences on different scenarios given to you.

AP Physics Tutoring

AP Physics does a great job of preparing students for college-level courses. I took AP physics when I was in High School, and I learned the problem-solving skills I take with me and use every day. The best way to prepare for the AP test is to understand the concepts of each topic, then practice different ways to solve the problem by breaking it down and understanding what they are asking of you.

Trigonometry Tutoring

Trigonometry is a great subject and is used in every higher level of math. I have been using trig since I was in 10th grade, and I'm very familiar with the strategies needed to solve trig problems. Though there is a lot of memory involved in doing trig there are patterns we can utilize to help us see how to solve any given problem.

AP Computer Science Tutoring

I took AP Computer Science in High School, and I loved it so much that I ended up majoring in computer science in College. When you are doing computer science and coding, you need to always be thinking algorithmically, and this is one of the things you learn in this class. This way of thinking helps you when you are trying to figure out the outcome of a loop. Or when you need to test certain inputs in your code..

Pre Calculus Tutoring

Since I'm well-versed in the subject of calculus, I know exactly what skills need to be built upon to be successful in calculus. I also know the areas that a lot of pre-calculus teachers gloss over. I intend to give my student all the necessary skills to succeed in the higher levels of math, building that firm foundation.

Java Tutoring

Since I took AP Computer Science, I'm well-versed in Java and the ins and outs of the language. The pros and cons of how to utilize it the most efficiently.

Python Tutoring

I have been taking Python courses throughout my college career, and it's one of the most versatile languages. Every person coding or working in the tech field should know Python. Through my learning process, I'm well-versed in the things that could be hard to grasp for people who are just learning to code or getting familiar with Python.
