Fun Facts

I have been studying and speaking German since I was a freshman in high school and was vice president of the German Club for 3 years during my high school career. I have had the opportunity to volunteer at San Francisco's annual Berlin and Beyond film festival over the past three years and have continued to grow in the language. During the 2012-2013 school year I had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Heidelberg in Germany.

About Me

I am entering my senior year at San Francisco State University and am studying Mathematics and German. I have worked with students with learning challenges as well as behavioral challeneges. I believe that it is important to meet students where they are and work with parents and teachers to help them succeed. Tutoring allows me to help students create solid methods of problem solving they can use for a variety of subjects. Thank you for your consideration!

Experience

I have been tutoring since I was a freshman in high school, and have experience teaching elementary, middle, and high school students.All of the students that I have worked with not only showed improvement in grades, but also in their confidence in learning and tackling new subject matter. I have worked with students from all backgrounds and pride myself in being able to effectively work with their teachers and parents to find custom fit teaching approaches.

Approach

My style of tutoring is very hands on, making sure to stay with the student every step of the way and being able to answer questions and explain concepts.I am a firm believer in teaching students and leading them to the answer, rather than just telling them what the answer is. I also use my past experiences with having tutors throughout my academic career and utilize tools and techniques they used to help me learn with my student.
