Fun Facts

My name is Sokhean Chea and I am a crazy fan of Marvel. I hope one day to design buildings that Marvel superheroes would use as their secret hideouts to discuss their important plans to rule the world. I dream of owning an Iron Man suit and would do anything to get my hands on it...maybe. At the end of day, I just want to go to bed saying I've done something that makes me or someone happy today.

About Me

I graduated from University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural Engineering in summer 2015 and I am currently attending California State University, Northridge for their Master’s Degree program in Structural Engineering. While I am gaining experience as a student, I want to help other students reach further and achieve much more in their high school career.

Experience

As a peer counselor in high school, I had the opportunity to sit with students and talk to them in all subject areas during my senior year to make sure that they were on track to graduate and get into their dream college. To do that, I volunteered to tutor them after school as a part of Project Lasso, which was a federally funded Gear-Up program. As a tutor, I want to not only help students succeed in their class but also share with them my experience in high school and college.

Approach

As an older brother to a younger sister, I understand how she struggled in her classes. I listened to her difficulty and how she was taught in her classes. As a tutor, I interpret and adopt technique of solving problems for individual students. It is my responsibility to ensure students understand the content and know when and how to apply the content in the problems.
