Fun Facts

My passions include practicing yoga and cooking. I played cello for several years and developed a deep love for music, listening to it, attending concerts, even composing my own compositions. I enjoy reading and will read just about anything I can get my hands onto, be it shampoo bottles or books about being a better doctor. I was born in France as my mother is french and I go back often to visit family, fueling my desire to travel and experience different cultures.

About Me

I am a sophomore Bio-medical Engineering major at the University of Texas, Dallas and I am part of the school's Collegium V Honors program. I plan on pursuing a career in the medical field but my long term goal would be to get an MD / PhD and work with the CDC or WHO in order to conduct epidemic type research.

Experience

I have been continuously tutoring ever since my early high school years as I love to teach and find joy in seeing a student progress in their understanding of the material. I started tutoring french, my native language, to 2 younger girls, my sophomore year of high school. Later that year I tutored a peer of mine in Geometry. My junior year I worked for a Kumon Learning center where I got to work with children aged 5-12. For a year now I have been tutoring college level chemistry.

Approach

My approach involves leading the student through a problem solving method in which they rely on previous knowledge in order to draw conclusions about how a problem should be solved. This empowers the student and helps them retain the information since they are the ones coming up with it. It also helps them in all subjects as this approach is based on problem solving and can be applied to any material. This method also allows the student to understand the material in their own way.

Calculus Tutoring

I am a college student studying biomedical engineering which requires me to take many math classes, including Calculus 1 and 2, many of which I received either an A or B+. I also took AP calculus in high school and received a 5 on both the AB and BC portion. I have a very good understanding of calculus since many of my engineering classes use it such as physics, differential equations, advanced engineering math, and a few other that I have not taken yet.

French Tutoring

I was born in France as my mother is French and I have gone back every year to visit family. I also spent an entire year in France during my 8th grade where I enrolled in the local school and took the same classes as my French peers. In high school I went directly into AP French where I excelled and later got a 5 on the AP exam. Many native French are shocked to learn I am American as my accent is almost none existent. I have tutored a few students in French where I mainly spent time working to improve their oral skills.

Homework Coach Tutoring

As a student I struggled quiet a lot with studying and completing homework so I understand what students are going through. I'd be able to monitor how they work and what are the best methods to help them such as taking breaks every so often and finding ways to motivate them to finish the work. As a tutor for Kumon, my main role was helping the students stay focused and to motivate them to do the homework.
