Fun Facts

I was born and raised in the Bay Area. Do not be fooled by the German last name however, as I am exactly one-half Chinese, and I am fluent in the language as well. I play soccer and ultimate frisbee, and I enjoy backpacking and various forms of skiing as well.

About Me

I am currently a third year applied mathematics major at UC Davis (also working on a minor in science/california/sunnyvale">computer science). I have been on the Dean's List nearly every quarter as well. I am also fluent in Mandarin Chinese reading, writing, and speaking. I aspire to work in the data science field, and perhaps travel overseas to China for a few years.

Experience

I worked at Mathnasium (mountain-view">Mountain View), a math sunnyvale">tutoring center, for about two and a half years. I helped a wide range of students learn and improve in topics from algebra to calculus. I enjoyed helping students push themselves to learn new and advanced topics, and then apply their learning and excel in school.

Approach

I think it is important to start small and work up to the advanced. Proper preparation is absolutely necessary in learning any topic. As for math, I think it is important to learn both problem solving skills as well as the underlying concepts. This proves very beneficial when studying related, more advanced topics.
