Fun Facts
Whenever I'm doing an icebreaker for a new class or event meetings, I always mention that I'm a singer. I've been singing for as long as I can remember and sang for the first time in church when I was 4 years old. Music in general has always been a passion for me, and I continue to practice it daily. I find that the discipline that is necessary to excel in singing is applicable to anything I wish to be successful at, especially math and science courses.
About Me
I'm a senior double majoring in Biology and Philosophy at Florida International University, in Miami Fl. I aspire to be a doctor one day and am preparing to apply for med school next summer. I currently work as a Learning Assistant for the mathematics department at my university assisting professors in teaching pre-calculus. I also am an officer of the only pre-health honor society on campus, Alpha Epsilon Delta. I have also done independent research under several faculty on campus.
Experience
I currently work as a Learning Assistant actively helping students in an extended pre-calculus class over the summer. In the spring semester of this year, I also worked as a Learning Assistant, hosting office hours in which students would come see me for help as they saw fit. Frog miami">tutoring would help me further develop my pedagogic skills not only in mathematics but a range of subjects I have engaged in up until now. Teaching is intrinsically rewarding in that I succeed if the student succeeds.
Approach
Having taken classes in public schools all my life, and going to university now, I have come across every kind of teacher imaginable, and I am very well aware of the effort and care it takes to be an effective one. I have also taken a semester-long seminar instructing in different pedagogic techniques and approaches to better address every kind of learner. I take a more open-ended or dialectic approach when teaching any subject, to guide the student via appropriate questions.

Biology I Tutoring
The focus of one of my undergraduate degrees is biology and I have taken a series of upper level course including, but not limited to, sensory neurobiology, cell biology, comparative vertebrate anatomy, and evolution.

I have taken up to Calculus 1 and earned an A in this subject. I performed well enough that the professor recommended me and hired me for the current learning assistant position that I have at the moment.

I am a proficient reader and writer and have been throughout my life. I received a 3 on my AP English exam and an A in the English 2 course that I took in college. I am also double majoring in Philosophy, for which excellent reading and writing skills are essential.
Math Tutoring
I have taken up to Calculus 1 and earned an A in this subject. I performed well enough that the professor recommended me and hired me for the current learning assistant position that I have at the moment.
Philosophy Tutoring
I am currently a double major, one of which is Philosophy. I have taken at least 8 upper division courses in Philosophy in which I have earned no less than an A.
Pre Calculus Tutoring
I am currently working as a tutor for this very subject through my university. I earned an A in this course and am proficient in this subject.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
