Fun Facts

My two biggest passions are Economics and Sports. If you spend any time with me there's a great chance you will see me reading econ blogs and watching sports. I also love card games and chess. My parents emigrated from Europe, I am the oldest of four and I speak Italian fluently. In fact, Italy is practically my second home. I love visiting my extended family in Northern Italy whenever I get the chance. The best parts of visiting are food, driving through the countryside and beautiful cities.

About Me

I am a junior Economics major and Math minor at the University of Puget Sound. I transferred from Georgetown University after my freshman year. I made the Dean's List last semester and hope to continue despite tough upcoming math classes.
I am heavily involved in undergraduate research. Presently, I am working on an auction theory paper
I would love to get a PhD in Economics so that I can someday work either in high level finance, for a Federal Reserve branch, or the World Bank/IMF.

Experience

I am excited to work for Frog Tutoring because I really enjoy teaching and helping students achieve their academic goals. In the past I helped highschool honors students organize and edit their essays and college students complete homework and study for exams in Stats 160 (introductory statistics). Last semester I was a course assistant in an intro Econ class. I held weekly discussion sections where I guided students through homework assignments and helped them prepare for exams.

Approach

Tutoring is about instilling confidence through deliberate and methodical skill building. As a tutor my job is not simply to help students complete homework or study for tests but to internalize knowledge and feel confident that the work we do is of their own volition, not mine. As such, tutoring has to be very individualized, like coaching. Every person learns differently and there certainly isn't one teaching style that fits all students so I adapt my style to the student.

Algebra Tutoring

I finished algebra classes before I got to highschool but algebra is an integral part of almost every math class I have taken/am taking. I practice algebra nearly every day and though I have not officially taught it I am supremely confident that I can help any student quickly and effectively learn essential algebra concepts.

Algebra II Tutoring

I finished algebra classes before I got to highschool but algebra is an integral part of almost every math class I have taken/am taking. I practice algebra nearly every day and though I have not officially taught it I am supremely confident that I can help any student quickly and effectively learn essential algebra concepts.

AP English Tutoring

I took AP English Language and AP English Literature in highschool and received A's in both. I also earned a 5 on the AP English Language exam (I did not take the Literature exam because it earns the same college credit as the Language exam). I have experience helping Honors English highschool students edit and organize their essays. I consider myself a good writer and really enjoy helping students with essays.

AP History Tutoring

I took AP US History in highschool and earned a 5 on the AP exam. I also earned an A- in the one history class I took in college, Late European History. I enjoy history and have a good memory for remembering historical facts and timelines. History is often difficult for students because it can be tedious and pointless so teaching it requires the ability to make it interesting by making connections between the past and present. Making history fun is key and that's what I'm all about!

AP Statistics Tutoring

I took AP stats in highschool and received an A both semesters. I earned a 4 on the AP exam and have helped students at school do homework and prepare for exams in Stats 160. I really love stats and teaching it is a treat. I can take various approaches to teaching the same topic in stats so all my students eventually find success regardless of how much they might struggle with concepts at the onset.

Calculus Tutoring

I took two full years of calculus in high school as well as a full year in college. In six total semesters I received five As and one B+. I am currently taking a third semester of calculus in college so it is fresh in my mind and important to me academically and eventually professionally. Though I have never formally tutored in calculus I have informally helped my teammates and friends with success.

Calculus AP Tutoring

I am currently taking a third semester of calculus in college so it is fresh in my mind and important to me academically and eventually professionally. Economics Tutoring

There is little doubt in my mind that I am one of the best Economics tutors in the area. My knowledge of the subject is extensive - to date I have taken ten econ classes with a cumulative GPA of 3.92 - and profound - I read and write weekly on current topics and issues in economics. Add this to my experience teaching the subject as a course assistant in an Introductory Econ class where I held bi-weekly discussion sections for 26 students and I believe any student would benefit greatly from my help.

English Tutoring

I took four years of highschool English including two years of AP English. I was a highly successful student receiving As all four years and a 5 on the AP English Language Exam. My experience teaching English is limited to helping high school honors English students organize and edit essays over the past few months. I can help students of all levels improve grammatical principles and sentence structure as well as overall organization.

History Tutoring

I took AP US History in highschool and earned a 5 on the AP exam. I also earned an A- in the one history class I took in college, Late European History. I enjoy history and have a good memory for remembering historical facts and timelines. History is often difficult for students because it can be tedious and pointless so teaching it requires the ability to make it interesting by making connections between the past and present. Making history fun is key and that's what I'm all about!

Italian Tutoring

I am fluent in Italian and received an A in the one 200 level class I took while at Georgetown University. As part of the School of Foreign Service Program, I took a qualifying exam to ensure I was adept in enough in the language to work abroad. I am certified as sufficiently competent in Italian to work in Italy. In fact, I spent the summer after my freshman year working in Italy. I love Italian and would be of great help to any student who wants to improve both grammatically and orally.

Micro-Economics Tutoring

I believe there are few, if any, better economic tutors in the area, students would be very well served to work with me. I have taken a myriad of micro economic classes in college with great success, receiving As in all five micro heavy classes. I taught micro economics at the introductory/principles (which is very similar to AP Macro) level to college students as a course assistant. The central part of the job was to hold bi weekly discussion sections where I helped students complete homework and prepare for tests. I am deeply knowledgeable in the subject from both an academic standpoint as well as a current event/topic standpoint as I read and blog on economic issues weekly.

Pre Algebra Tutoring

I finished algebra classes before I got to highschool but algebra is an integral part of almost every math class I have taken/am taking. I practice algebra nearly every day and though I have not officially taught it I am supremely confident that I can help any student quickly and effectively learn essential algebra concepts.

Pre Calculus Tutoring

I took Pre Calculus my sophomore year in highschool and received an A both semesters. Pre Calculus can be tricky for many students because it is far different from any math class they have taken up to this point. Learning how to do math differently requires practice, patience and a little guidance from a tutor can only help.

Statistics Tutoring

I love learning and teaching statistics. I took AP Stats in high school receiving an A both semesters and a 4 on the AP Exam. This past semester, I earned an A in Econometrics, which is second semester statistics for Economics majors. In college, I have helped students in Intro Stats complete homework and prepare for exams. I have profound knowledge in statistics and can help any high school student improve in a number of stats topics, particularly the more mathy topics.

Writing Tutoring

I learned to write well my first semester of college when I was assigned a total of 60 pages of writing among my four classes. I did very little writing in high school so I had to learn on the fly. Luckily, I learned quickly enough to do well in my classes but I wish I learned to write well in high school. I teach students how to develop an essay - how to organize and structure it such that their thoughts are expressed cogently and succinctly. I have advised highs school honors English students independently with success and continue to do so with frog tutoring.

Math Tutoring

As a math minor I understand the importance of math so i enjoy teaching it. I remember loving math in middle school because it was so new and different than anything else I had done. I enjoy teaching middle school math because it is rewarding to see students conclude their time with me with a newfound confidence and even enjoyment of math.

Math Advance Tutoring

I love teaching advanced middle school math. I"m consistently impressed by the intelligence exhibited by these bright kids. I can teach middle schoolers anything from algebra and geometry to calculus, classes that I enjoyed doing and that continue to help me with the more advanced math I do today.

Macro Economics Tutoring

I have taken college macro economics with great success, receiving As in both macro principles and macro theory. I taught macro economics at the introductory/principles (which is very similar to AP Macro) level to college students as a course assistant. The central part of the job was to hold bi weekly discussion sections where I helped students complete homework and prepare for tests. I am deeply knowledgeable in the subject from both an academic standpoint as well as a current event/topic standpoint as I read and blog on the economic issues weekly. I believe there are few, if any, better economic tutors in the area.
