Fun Facts

I am the oldest of nine, and one of three who are adopted. I lived in NY/NJ for 13 years. Since moving back west, I have discovered gardening and love to grow my own food. Last year at the fair I bought wool roving and hope to soon learn to spin yarn with a drop spindle. If I become proficient, I want to buy a spinning wheel so I can spin my own yarn since I love to crochet.

About Me

I am a 3rd & 4th grade elementary teacher at a private school. This is my first year teaching. Prior to this, I was an Accountant. I am currently enrolled in the Master's In Teaching program at seattle">City University of Seattle and hope to have my Washington State Teaching Certificate in 2 years.

Experience

As a teacher, I have the opportunity to help students learn in creative and engaging ways. While I have never been a tutor, I have always participated in off-campus help sessions providing my talents and experience to help others. Helping others learn will impact me and help me to become a more effective educator.

Approach

Learning is a difficult job for everyone. I remember my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Prairie, and that she made reading fun and exciting. I am an avid reader, when I am not reading curriculum or textbooks, and I want to inspire others to learn. I believe with caring and patience, a student has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential as a learner.
