Fun Facts

Whenever I'm not studying or working, I can most likely be found on my mountain bike. I only started taking it seriously in this past year but it is one of the most exciting hobbies imaginable. Aside from flying down mountains and squeezing between trees, there is a very real sense of progression as you notice yourself not being as a scared to go fast, less out of breath at the top of climbs, and crashing less. Its a great experience that gets you in the mindset to put in work to get better.

About Me

I graduated from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2016 with a degree in chemical engineering. Having graduated Summa Cum Laude, I have a strong command over advanced math, science, and engineering courses. Having worked in research settings also, I also have a unique perspective as to why these classes are useful and how they can be exciting in the real-world. While I look for full-time work, I'd like to use my spare time to help younger students get excited about STEM!

Experience

During college I worked at my school's tutoring center. I've always gotten a sense of happiness from seeing my classmates succeed with me and so this offered a unique opportunity to help my classmates & peers move forward in a more structured environment. During this time I also volunteered with a College Prep Program tutoring math and science. This is where I initially found my passion to get younger students excited about a future in STEM.

Approach

As a Junior is High School, I convinced 3 of my closest friends to take AP Chemistry with me. We developed a dynamic where we tried & tested new problem solving approaches, learned from our mistakes, and passed on what we learned. This mentality has helped me through college and as a tutor, I ask students to walk me through their attempts so I can guide them to learn from their mistakes. I find this gives students a sense of responsibility, pride, and confidence when they hit their "Aha!" moment

AutoCAD Tutoring

I am self taught with some AutoDesk Inventor and AutoDesk AutoCAD P&ID. Inventor is similar to AutoCAD in that it can be used to create 3D drawings. I've used it in a professional setting to design & 3D print custom tools. AutoCAD P&ID is a chemical engineering focused version of AutoCAD utilized to create detail flow diagrams of chemical industrial processes.

Calculus I Tutoring

I took Honors Calculus I at NJIT as a requirement of my degree in Chemical Engineering, earning a B+. The honors course was much more rigorous than the regular section and focused on differential calculus. The course also introduced utilizing computer tools such as MATLAB & Microsoft Excel to solve complex math problems.

Calculus 2 Tutoring

I took Calculus II at NJIT as a requirement of my degree in Chemical Engineering, earning an A. This course focused on Integral Calculus & is very rigorous, it is often considered as a "weed out" course in engineering programs.

Calculus 3 Tutoring

I took Calculus III at NJIT as a requirement of my degree in Chemical Engineering, earning an A. This course focused on vector, or 3D, calculus.

Chemistry I Tutoring

I took several semesters of university level chemistry as requirements for my degree in chemical engineering, ranging from general chemistry (I & II) to organic & physical chemistry. In addition to a strong understanding of the basic skills and concepts taught in general chemistry, I can offer a unique perspective as to how these skills & concepts are useful in real-world settings.

Chemistry II Tutoring

I took several semesters of university level chemistry as requirements for my degree in chemical engineering, ranging from general chemistry (I & II) to organic & physical chemistry. In addition to a strong understanding of the basic skills and concepts taught in general chemistry, I can offer a unique perspective as to how these skills & concepts are useful in real-world settings.

College Algebra Tutoring

Next to Calculus & Differential Equations, Algebra is the next essential tool for engineers. Throughout my academic career I've encountered and utilized the algebraic skills taught in college algebra courses such as Real/Complex Numbers, Sequences & Series, and solving Linear & Nonlinear Equations.

Math Tutoring

In addition to my degree in chemical engineering, I completed a minor in applied mathematics. I have a strong background in Calculus & Differential Equations (two essential subjects in engineering), statistics, and numerical (computer aided) methods.

Physics I Tutoring

I took Physics I at NJIT as a requirement of my degree in Chemical Engineering, earning an A. This course was calculus based and focused on Newtonian Physics.

Physics II Tutoring

I took Physics II at NJIT as a requirement of my degree in Chemical Engineering, earning an A. This course was calculus based and focused on Electricity & Magnetism.

Study Skills Tutoring

I worked as a tutor at my university's tutoring center. In addition to helping students with homework problems, I tried to pass on the study skills I developed myself. I've been told on many occasions that the study skills were very successful.

Algebra Tutoring

Next to Calculus & Differential Equations, Algebra is the next essential tool for engineers. Throughout my academic career I've encountered and utilized the algebraic skills taught in college algebra courses such as Real/Complex Numbers, Sequences & Series, and solving Linear & Nonlinear Equations.

Algebra II Tutoring

Next to Calculus & Differential Equations, Algebra is the next essential tool for engineers. Throughout my academic career I've encountered and utilized the algebraic skills taught in college algebra courses such as Real/Complex Numbers, Sequences & Series, and solving Linear & Nonlinear Equations.

AP Chemistry Tutoring

I took Honors Chemistry I & II at NJIT as requirements for my degree in Chemical Engineering. Both courses follow more in depth but similar curriculums to an AP Chemistry Course. In these courses we covered chemical reactions & chemical kinetics, thermodynamic & equilibrium calculations, states of matter & solutions, etc.

AP Statistics Tutoring

I took Probability & Statistics to complete my minor in Applied Mathematics at NJIT. This course followed a similar curriculum to what is offered in a typical AP Statistics course.

Calculus Tutoring

I took Honors Calculus I at NJIT as a requirement of my degree in Chemical Engineering, earning a B+. This course focused on differential calculus went further in depth than what is typically offered in an Honors Calculus course.

Calculus AP Tutoring

I took Honors Calculus I & II at NJIT as requirements of my degree in Chemical Engineering, earning a B+ & A respectively. The courses focused on differential & integral calculus; differential calculus being the bulk of an AP Calculus course. Both courses went further in depth than what is typically covered in a AP Calculus course.

Chemistry Tutoring

I took several semesters of university level chemistry as requirements for my degree in chemical engineering, ranging from general chemistry to organic & physical chemistry. In addition to a strong understanding of the basic skills and concepts taught in high school level chemistry, I can offer a unique perspective as to how these skills & concepts are useful in real-world settings.

Homework Coach Tutoring

I worked as a tutor at my university's tutoring center and volunteered to tutor high school students at a college prep program. As opposed to just solving problems in front of the student, my personal approach is to guide students through their incorrect attempts to identify and address the mistakes as a means to improve their understanding.

Math Advance Tutoring

In my engineering studies, I had to apply math skills from various subjects including pre-calc, algebra, calculus & differential equations, statistics, and numerical methods (using computers to solve complex problems). I also became quite adept at decoding difficult-to-read math textbooks which is a valuable skill in itself.

Physics Tutoring

I took university level physics I & II at NJIT as requirements for my degree in chemical engineering. Both courses were calculus based and covered newtonian physics as well as electricity and magnetism.

Guitar Tutoring

I am a self taught musician, having played guitar & bass guitar for 8 years. 4 years were in structured settings with my high school's jazz & marching bands.
