Fun Facts
I'm very competitive at sports but off the court, I'm super easy going. I used "court" because I love playing basketball. I'm not tall by any means but I still enjoy it just the same. I enjoy all types of music and would love to learn how to play piano some day.
About Me
I have a degree in Accounting and another in Economics. I enjoy math because there is always an answer. While there may be just one answer, there is always a different way to solve the problem. That's probably why I also enjoy English. There is million ways to say the exact same thing. I have a two year old son and can't wait to see what his interests are.
Experience
My mentoring began in college as summer camp counselor. After college, I became a basketball coach for a CYO boys team. More recently I served for seven years as a Big Brother. Specific to tutoring, I worked with another service tutoring Math and English to college students. I also helped a high school teacher get a refresher for a an Algebra course he was teaching the following semester. I would love to share my my experience as both a student and tutor with everyone.
Approach
I attended a college preparatory high school whose main goal was to teach work ethic and discipline. I was not the type to study fours a day so I began looking for other ways to learn the same material. I began rhyming for memorization and acronyms for formulas. I used my dad's old college books for other methods if I didn't like those taught in my books. Looking back, I wasn't looking for shortcuts. I was just proving there is no one way to learn. Don't you agree?
