Fun Facts
My passion since childhood has always been sports. I played baseball from when I was 8 years old up to and including college. I now play softball four days a week. I am also an avid investor in the stock market and enjoy exercising, reading, and watching movies.
About Me
I am now currently retired but I spent most of my career working as a Senior Vice President for a major stockbroker. I provided consulting services to large companies and organizations which included eBay, Toyota Motors, and Stanford University. I have three college degrees that include a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah, a Masters of Engineering degree from Texas A&M, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Southern California.
Experience
In the past year, I have been a substitute teacher teaching both math and honors physics classes. For the past several years, I have tutored middle school and high school students in both math and science. I have also tutored college students in the subjects of calculus and college algebra. During my working career, I conducted several training sessions for my company throughout the country. I was also an instructor for another organization teaching accounting and finance classes.
Approach
My approach is to first understand what a student knows about a subject and then begin from there. In both math and science, there is usually more than one approach to solving a problem so if one does not work, I will present another option. I also like to use easy examples to explain concepts and then work through several problems to reinforce the concept. In subsequent, sessions I like to conduct quick reviews to ensure the student has retained the concepts previously covered.
