Fun Facts
I believe the best things in life are dogs, food, and music. I love to travel and experience new cultures. I can do the worm under any and all circumstances, especially under the high pressure of a dance circle. I will struggle to tell you my favorite things because I find beauty in everything from alternative to hip hop, Korean food to Indian food, and Chihuahuas to Great Danes. Above all of these things, I love volunteering and hope that I can impact the world through love and optimism.
About Me
I am a freshman Psychology and Child Studies double major at Santa Clara University. I graduated first in my class out of high school and have received a 4.0 in the first two quarters of this year. When I graduate I hope to get my masters and go on to be a high school teacher or counselor. I love being with people and helping them to learn to be the best versions of themselves.
Experience
My junior and senior year I was the Vice President of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, tutoring my peers in all core subjects three days a week. Throughout high school I volunteered as a teacher’s assistant at three Elementary schools in my home town of Aurora, Colorado and the summer of my junior year I tutored students in Belize. Since coming to college, I have been tutoring at a local school, helping kids in after care work on reading and math.
Approach
Many people including myself learn in unconventional ways. Although I discovered my ideal learning circumstances early on, many students lose confidence in their abilities because traditional teaching methods do not coincide with their learning style. I have seen how if even one person believes in their potential and worth, students can discover their unique learning styles and abilities. My goal is to help students embrace their strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to excel in all areas.
