Fun Facts

One thing people identified pretty quickly about me is my passion for learning.I love inspecting all the information that is available to us, and figuring out what my interests and dislikes are.Similarly, I find it equally as gratifying examining the interest of the people around me and admiring the similarities and or differences in our perspective. Some activities I enjoy participating in during my free time are longboarding and hiking among other things. I am also learning to play the drums.

About Me

I am a sophomore currently pursing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Prior to attending, I completed several college level courses in high school, consequently earning about a years worth of credit. None the less, I have preformed at the collegiate level as well. My first semester at UTSA I obtained a 3.7 GPA. In the future, I hope to acquire an acute interest within the field of Mechanical Engineering a pursue a job surrounded by those interests.

Experience

As a member of the Mu Alpha Theta math club in high school, I was required to tutor students in lower level math classes a certain number of hours per semester. Through this I developed a passion for math, as well as teaching it as practice for conveying my thoughts clearly. I have not held any other formal tutoring roles, but I have always been inclined to helping people understand things they do not. This is highlighted in interactions with my friends, colleagues as well as my family.

Approach

I understand the challenges that students face in a modern school setting because I'm not too far removed from the time I was that student. Often I've heard that a teacher is bad or hard to understand, and I believe this is caused by a lack of acknowledging the learner. I seek to understand how my students learn best, so I can then provide a lesson that is equally as beneficial as it is geared towards them. I also wish to instill a sense of personal responsibility and its importance to success.

Calculus I Tutoring

Calculus is an essential tool that mathematicians and engineers use alike. I have the fortunate circumstance of working with calculus just about everyday in my studies. I took this course in high school and was able to finish with an A in the class and a 5 on the AP exam. I believe I would be an excellent tutor because not only did I spend an excessive amount of time with this course, but I have built upon it in my studies and continue to do so.

Calculus 2 Tutoring

I took Cal 2 in my first semester of college here at UTSA, and was able to receive an A+ in the course. A strong foundation in Cal 1 is required to be successful in the class, which I can also provide. Calculus is an essential tool to engineering, therefore I use the concepts and methods taught in this class in a continuous fashion in almost all my higher level engineering classes. I believe I would be a good tutor of this subject because I understand the topics well and I'm not too far removed from the course itself.

Algebra Tutoring

Algebra is an essential math tool in any STEM degree, therefore I use it on a daily basis. All the fundamental ideas in the course are intertwined in what I am learning as an engineer here at UTSA. I believe I would make an excellent tutor of this subject because I am extremely familiar with Algebra, and I have overcome many of the very same obstacles you or your child may be dealing with.

Algebra II Tutoring

Much like Algebra 1, Algebra 2 is full of fundamental concepts of mathematics and functions that are constantly used throughout higher level math classes, and applied mathematics as well, both of which I've had and still continue to gain experience with. I strongly believe I would be a good tutor for this subject because, I am quite familiar with these concepts, and I have an understanding beyond just the initial knowledge, but of the application.

AP Physics Tutoring

A general understanding of the physical world and how to describe it through mathematics is a fundamental ability in most STEM majors, especially mechanical engineering where it is manipulated in order to create some kind of advantage. I took this course my senior year of high school and received an A in the class and a 4 on the AP exam. I also took a calculus based version of this course in college and received an A as well. I believe I would be a good tutor of this subject because I understand all the concepts taught extremely well and I have a passion for physics like none other!

Pre Calculus Tutoring

As a STEM major, pre-cal is essentially the first taste of what most math you're going to be doing is like. Many important concepts are introduced in this course that provide a strong foundation for a continuation in mathematics. That being said I have been through this course and most of the continuation there-after. I have a extremely strong grasp of the methods and concepts taught in this class as I use it all the time in my studies. I would make a good tutor of this subject because I could provide an application to most of this math, which could help with many learners.
