Fun Facts

I love trying something new every year, so the last few years I've gone skydiving, parasailing, and ridden on the back of a jet ski.
I also enjoy playing video games and watching the Walking Dead. Lastly, I am about to start taking Taekwondo lessons for the first time and am really excited about it.

About Me

I graduated with honors from CSU Sacramento and am currently working as a preschool teacher part-time. My academic goals this year are to observe teachers to learn more teaching techniques and go back to school for my art degree. As you can tell, I am ambitious and like to stay busy, so I'm really excited about teaching part-time, observing classes, and sacramento">tutoring in my spare time.

This last year I volunteered as a classroom aide Saint Patrick's Academy where I helped the fifth and second grade students with their math and reading skills one-on-one and in small groups. I also worked for Brain Hurricane as a Kindergarten sacramento">tutor. As a Kindergarten sacramento">tutor I worked with a small group of students to enhance their math and reading skills through a variety of activities that the program designed for my age group and which my students were given a post test on at the end of the school year.
For two years I volunteered as an after school writing and math sacramento">tutor for Breakthrough Sacramento where i worked with seventh and eighth graders and implemented the curriculum the program created to enhance students' skills.
For about a year I also worked as a one-on-one, in-home reading sacramento">tutor for Sullivan Learning Systems. For this sacramento">tutoring position, I helped students develop their reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. I was also responsible for giving my students a pre-test, weekly assessments, and a post-test.

I like to start my sacramento">tutoring sessions by getting to know the student I am working with and by giving them an assessment to see what their strengths and weaknesses are, so that I can help them focus on the areas they are struggling with. Once I have their assessment results, I also like to speak with the parents/guardians of the student to see what they think their child excels in and what they need help in, and the ways that we can work together to make sure their child can do better in school.
