Fun Facts
If you know me you know I love to travel. I have been to eleven countries so far and am always planning trips to see more. I have also lived in three states, Wisconsin, California, and Florida. All of these places fill my passion of trying new foods, learning new languages, and learning about cultures. My friends know that if I am on my phone I am probably learning new languages on the language app, Duolingo.
About Me
I am a Wisconsinite who loves the packers but loves the warmth even more. I live in Miami, Florida and was brought here from the AmeriCorps program, Teach for America, to teach at Booker T. Washington Senior high. I am also a graduate student at The University of Miami in their Education and Social Change program. Currently, I have my Temporary Professional Teaching Certificate. When I graduate, I will have my Professional Teaching License. My goal is to join the Peace Corps to teach abroad.
Experience
As a college student I tutored Statistics, English, Psychology, & Introduction to Neuroscience. After graduation, I moved to Spain for 3 months to nanny and teach English and Math to the children. I felt a passion for teaching and on my return became a substitute teacher. This led to me joining City Year (AmeriCorps program) in California. There I led small group tutoring and taught STEM content in the after school program.Currently I teach Algebra & Geometry at Booker T. Washington High School.
Approach
As a student, I struggled with concentration. This is why my teaching technique is to make sure the content is culturally relevant. I believe it is important to find out the interests and what is important to each student. Incorporating this in my lessons helps them feel more engaged. In addition students should have goals and those goals should be assessed often. While tutoring it is important to stay positive and patient!

MastersAlgebra Tutoring
I currently teach Algebra Honors at Booker T. Washington Senior High. I am extremely confident in Algebra and have studied the curriculum extensively. As a teacher I am experienced in creating lesson plans and explaining material to all different types of learners. I have created study plans for my students in preparation for the state exam. I have also spent time teaching Saturday school in order to better prepare students. I have a Temporary Teaching Certificate for mathematics 6-12. I am currently enrolled in Graduate school to get my Professional Teaching License.
Geometry Tutoring

Pre Algebra Tutoring
I currently teach Geometry and Algebra honors at Booker T. Washington Senior High school. In order to teach this I often need to make sure they understand the basics. As a result I have taught Pre Algebra standards to get my students to where they need to be. I have a Temporary Teaching Certificate for mathematics 6-12. I am currently enrolled in Graduate school to get my Professional Teaching License.

In 2015, I moved to California to join City Year (an AmeriCorps Program). There I taught 6th grade math during the day in addition to small group tutoring. I moved students from first grade level in skills to the 6th grade level. I worked one on one with some students to help move them from an F to a C. Elementary Math Tutoring
In my time spent in Spain I taught a four year old and a seven year old basic math content for their summer studies. I have also helped with homework while babysitting as a teenager. In addition I have substitute taught in math classes when I was a substitute teacher.
