Fun Facts

I have too many interests to discuss each individually in a concise manner. I'm a skiier, an electronic music fanatic, a planter, an athlete (I play soccer and basketball) and more. I think sports are a fantastic way of relieving stress and anxiety. I usually play basketball a couple days a week for that reason and for exercise of course!

About Me

I am currently a M.S. student at the University of California San Diego. I have always been a diligent student and my grades should reflect this. I don't know what I want to do yet once I graduate but I enjoy designing control systems and tackling problems related to quantum mechanical phenomena. I have a particular soft spot for data analysis and I have formal training doing so using MATLAB. I always dreamed of contributing to space exploration, not necessarily as a pioneer but instead as an engineer.

Tutoring is something everyone close to me has told me that I have to get involved with because I'm universally regarded as patient and a fantastic teacher. I have formal tutoring experience with only 2 students but both experiences were a pleasure. I taught one Calculus I and the other Calculus II. Working with Frog Tutoring will hopefully give me the opportunity to make an impact on even more students' lives!

My tutoring approach is dependent on my student's current understanding of the material. If my student has a decent understanding of the subject already, I'll simply give them hints to help them work through problems that they're stuck on. The real challenge of tutoring is helping students who are completely lost attain a decent understanding of the subject matter. My approach to help these students is to work through a couple simple problems with them first. While I realize it's important to not accidentally do the student's work for him/her I think that walking the student through a couple examples is vital as well. Having examples from lecture to work with always helped me when I was working on my homework and I think that this approach will help the students I tutor as well.
