Fun Facts

One fateful day at the tender age of eight, I made the happy accident of purchasing a barbie adorned journal instead of a personality questioner (which, as everyone knows, were the craze in 2002), and have been avidly writing everything from secret crush lamentations and movie reviews to AP essays ever since. I also enjoy movies which explore human nature, voting, cats, & Brand New.

About Me

I am in my second semester at the University of Utah but am also three credits aways from being a junior (those AP classes really work), majoring in Political Science in hopes to get into Law school and become a female lawyer. Yay. My GPA is 3.86. Ultimately, my career goal is to make a positive contribution to my community through having the knowledge and experience to offer legal help to those who require it.

I am fluent (heritage speaker) in Russian and have tutored several people one on one throughout high school. Have taken AP Lang-5, AP Psych-5, AP LIt-4, AP Stats-4, AP Environmental Science-4, AP Art-3, AP US History-3. Also scored a 31 on the reading section of the ACT, 12/12 on the writing section of the ACT, and received a perfect score on research paper in POLS 5810 research seminar at the University of Utah. I have been recognized as a AP Scholar With Distinction, served as an SBO of student government at Salem Hills high, and have completed a community engaged learning course conducting gender studies workshops to a group of young men at the Wasatch Juvenile Justice facility.

Having experienced it for myself, I strongly believe that one on one tutoring is often the key to student success. Although each student requires a unique approach tailored to his/ her academic needs, patience, open-mindedness, communication, and the ability to recognize individual needs and struggles are vital attributes of any effective tutor. Learning atmosphere is also something I take very seriously, since every student deserves to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. When learning is fueled by association, mnemonics, metaphors, and a friendly and helpful tutor, it's nearly always a positive experience for the student. I believe that everyone has the potential to excel in academics, but even the best of them sometimes need help along the way.
