Fun Facts

I love to travel! I have been to Africa, the Caribbean and a few places in the USA of course! My first full time teaching job was overseas in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I enjoy creating art, listening to music, reading, writing and hanging with my family.

About Me

I have been an educator for over 12 years and taught from Kindergarten to College. I have a vision of owning my own school, which will be under the umberella of an education company. I have a Master's degree in Elementary Education and I love to learn!

Experience

I began my teaching career as an after school program coordinator for the YMCA after school program in my hometown. I also substituted in my hometown for several years. After that, I traveled overseas to teach and have been in education in some way ever since. I love being able to find creative ways to explain complex subjects in a way that speaks to the student based on their experiences and background. I have impacted the lives of many students and look forward to continuing to do so.

Approach

I am child centered and have a global approach. I am careful about what I create for a child to view so that it gives them a holistic view instead of only understanding one side. I think this is critical because in my education I feel I received a one-sided view that affected critical thinking - not because I couldn't - but because I was not encouraged to think in a way that sees things from many sides. As an educator I like to make connections in a way that allows students to think deeply.
