Fun Facts

I am born and raised in Ghana, West Africa. My family had a small plot of land where we planted corn, tomatoes, beans and some greens. There used to be a park in front of my home where I would play soccer and bike race with my friends. I relocated to New York at the start of college. I have a growing nuclear family and we love to eat at home, so cooking is a part of me. English is my forth language, I can read and write Arabic and French, but I am yet to learn to hold full conversations

About Me

I graduated Summa Cum Laude (GPA 3.82) from Lehman College, NY, with a Bachelor of science in biology. I was on the dean's list, a presidential scholar, received St. George's scholarship and Phi Beta Kappa awards. I just completed my medical school education at St. Georges university in Grenada, aspiring to become a family physician.

Experience

While at Lehman college, I did walk-in individual and group tutoring sessions of college level biomedical science subjects. These included chemistry, organic chemistry and biology. I led workshops as an integral part of the premedical courses and collaborated with faculty to review workshop problems and to create questions that parallel the curriculum for the semester. I have been a teacher to over 100 youth ages 4-21, teaching how to read and write Arabic, as well as helping with homework.

Approach

With my years of experience as a tutor at my college, I have found that understanding my students' technique, has been essential to helping me to suggest study materials and most importantly, trying variety of questions regarding specific topics goes a long way to solidify the concepts. I hope to help my tutees to become persistent learners and to develop a love for the subjects they seek help with.
