Fun Facts
When not working or tutoring, I am still going to graduate school doing not one, but two Master's degrees! I have a dog, a little beagle named Penny, who also loves to take up plenty of my time with walks, playing, and a little too much barking at squirrels.
About Me
I work full-time as the eLearning administrator of a small college, meaning I help support and create all of the online classes. When I graduate with my Master's degrees in Library Science and Instructional Design & Technology, I will be qualified to be the Dean of the Library and Center for Teaching & Learning.
Experience
All throughout high school, I worked as a tutor for Algebra, the introductory levels of science (high school level chemistry and physics mostly), History, and Spanish. I transitioned to just mentoring my fellow students in history and religion when I started my undergraduate degree. As part of my current full-time work, I spend countless hours every week tutoring students in college success and digital literacy.
Approach
I often felt like there just was not enough time in class or during office hours for my instructors to give me and my classmates the time needed to become comfortable with the class material. Tutoring helps bridge that gap. I believe using the time in a tutoring session to learn how the student best succeeds by offering multiple ways for them to engage with the material and offering different perspectives can help make everything click!

For all of the degrees I have earned, becoming experienced with college level writing is a must. I can help middle school students learn the basics of citation for any style they may be using - MLA is the most popular within K-12. I can help them look for sources, properly cite them, and argue their writing in a way that will set them apart from their classmates.

Study skills are something I help college students with on the daily, as I currently work at a college with a high population of what are known as non-traditional students, or students who do not have any experience with higher education and are long removed from the classroom. Creating a foundation for learning with strong study skills is something I have plenty of experience in.
GED Tutoring
I work with GED students on the daily at the college I currently work for. I know how important it is to feel supported and heard, not condescended to. Earning a GED is a pivotal step for students and as someone who regularly works with GED students and has spent plenty of time with GED and High School 21+ classrooms as a support person, is something that I am passionate about.
Homework Coach Tutoring
Homework can feel like busy work. As someone who still has a lot of it herself, I get it! My goal as a homework coach is to help the student engage with the content and the learning activity in a meaningful way while adding to their study skills, as well as help students create their own healthy homework habits when it comes to time management and dealing with the frustration that comes with difficult or time consuming assignments.
