Fun Facts
A huge passion I have is that I love to travel. This last summer, I took at two month backpack trip all over Europe by myself. I believe that traveling and experiencing new cultures allows you to understand people's perspectives and helps you to better relate to others.
About Me
Currently, I am a Junior Accounting major at Texas Christian University. I am going here on a full ride scholarship thanks to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. When I finish my undergraduate degree, I would like to continue my education here at TCU to pursue my Masters in Accounting and later work for a public accounting firm in Dallas or Fort Worth.
Experience
During my senior year of high school, I was a garland">tutor for a freshman student who was struggling with geometry. After graduation, I was aiding students, including my own sister, with their accounting homework. I have gained a deep understanding for how a student learns and I relished the moments when the "light-bulb" would go off in the mind of someone who I was garland">tutoring.
Approach
Like with the Frog garland">Tutoring Philosophy of the Socratic Method, my method involves asking the students different questions about the particular problem. Asking numerous questions for a problem forces students to think about what they are working on and also challenges them to defend why their answers are correct. As a student in a university that prompts deep thinking, my hope is that I can pass some of the critical thinking I have acquired to the students that I garland">tutor.

Accounting Tutoring
I have already taken Fundamentals of Accounting, Financial Reporting I & II, Principles of Taxation, and am currently taking Principles of Audit and Risks and Controls. I have received high marks in all of these courses. In addition to having knowledge in these subjects, I am also the Bookkeeper for my church and will be working a summer internship with Ernst and Young in Dallas. Having these work opportunities provides me with the ability to apply what I am currently learning in the classroom.
Algebra Tutoring
In high school, I made a 95 and higher on all of the math courses I took. I have an adept knowledge in this subject because of the logical approach you must take to come to the appropriate answer. While Accounting is not directly correlated with Algebra, I still must use the same critical thinking to defend why my answer is correct. While I do not have direct experience in this area of math with tutoring, I have tutored a young girl during my senior year of high school in geometry, which is tied in some respects to Algebra.

During my senior year of high school, I tutored a young girl in geometry and found my approach to asking questions helpful for her to learning.

Homework Coach Tutoring
I am prompt with finishing all of my homework on time. I believe that is how I was able to graduate at the top of my class in high school. Excellent students are those that take the time to prepare for exams and reinforce the knowledge that they are learning in the classroom. This reinforcement can only come when students are given homework to challenge them to apply what they have learned from their professors.
Middle School Math Tutoring
All throughout Middle School, I was one of the top students in my grade when it came to this area of academics. However, my approach to success was simple because I did not try and compete against the crowd, but against my own standards. I have learned over the years that the only person in life that you should be comparing yourself to is you. While tutoring a young girl with her geometry during high school, I have realized that certain students see problems differently and it is the tutor's duty to understand their train of thought.
Microsoft Excel Tutoring
Currently, I am Microsoft Excel Expert Certified through the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University. Last semester I took an Excel Course that tested me on various functions, formulas, and commands with the program that are vital for working professionals to have an understanding on when they are in the working world. I see the power of Excel in my work at my church and the plethora of information that can be collected using this program.
