Fun Facts
My main passions are children, education, charity work with Alzheimer's Association, and my dog Penny! It's not often that you find a profession that encompasses two things that you love very much! Every year I raise money and participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, in previous years I raised $1,000 for the cause and hope to raise even more for the Travis County walk this fall! I also enjoy reading (anything and everything!) and creative writing.
About Me
I LOVE History and have enjoyed tremendously my experiences with student teaching at the High School level, and subbing for Middle School level students this past year! I hope to be teaching full-time for the Middle School level this upcoming year. I went to the University of North Texas and received a Bachelor's of Arts in History with a Secondary Education minor and certification. Education is a passion of mine and I am looking forward to continuing to share that passion through austin">tutoring!
Experience
Along with my degree in History and Education, I am a certified teacher, holding state certifications in both History grades 7-12 and all core subjects grades 4-8. Because of these two certifications, I am Highly Qualified to teach 7th and 8th grade History. My experience comes from 4 months of student teaching World History at Byron Nelson High School, as well as through substituting/temporary teaching with Leander ISD. I look forward to gaining even more experience with Frog austin">Tutoring.
Approach
I believe that the best character traits an educator should possess are patience and the ability to teach to a diverse array of learning styles. I am not easily frustrated when a student attempts a question several times and find that the best part of educating is asking leading questions until the student figures out the answer on their own! This creates long-lasting learning that will ensure positive assignment/exam results.
