Fun Facts
When I was in college, I spent a good deal of my free time playing banjo and guitar in a bluegrass band. While doing this, I met my wife, and we are now expecting our first child in August 2015.
About Me
While an undergraduate, my majors were Mathematics and Physics, but my passion for physics won out and I chose to pursue a graduate degree in physics. I am in my 3rd year of graduate school in the department of physics at the University of Texas at Dallas. I recently received my Masters of Science in Physics and am now pursuing a Ph.D. with an emphasis in Biophysics. Ultimately, I want to teach physics at the University level.
Experience
While an undergraduate, I tutored students in math and physics bi-weekly during my junior and senior year. This was a position in which students could come anytime, so I saw some students only once, while some students came to me every week. As a result I have experience both with one-time dallas">tutoring sessions, as well as repeated visits. This experience instilled in me a love for teaching, and helped me to hone my education skills.
Approach
For me, there must be a connection to what I am learning. If I am not interested in what I am trying to learn I really struggle. As such, I strive to make subjects come alive by giving real world examples, point out interesting facts, and use historical background.

I have taken the Calculus sequence, Differential Equations, Probability and Statistics, Discrete Math, two semesters of modern algebra, linear algebra, and an introduction to real analysis. I earned an A in each subject, with the exception of linear algebra, receiving a B. I have tutored for the calculus sequence, and also consistently helped struggling classmates in each of the other subjects
