About Me

I am currently a junior at Rice University working towards achieving my B.A. in both Statistics and Asian Studies. Before I graduate, some goals of mine are to develop more "real-life" experiences with statistics as well as improve my fluency in Chinese. In the future, I aim to earn an additional M.Stat Professional Master in Statistics degree with a specialization in Applied Statistics for Industry.

Experience

Back in high school, my teachers encouraged AP students to tutor others that needed the extra help, so I would frequently stay late after school to tutor. In college, I RA-ed for a chemistry research summer camp. Since I attended the camp back when I was a high schooler, I was able to both look after the campers as well as mentor them throughout their research projects. I was also an advisor for a summer camp held at Rice University that aimed to prepare high schoolers for college.

Approach

When I was younger, I found school incredibly difficult. Halfway through my elementary years, my mom began to tutor me outside of school. I found her constant support, patience, and determination incredibly effective. With her help, subjects that were originally difficult became less terrifying, and I even began to surpass the material taught in class. As a tutor, I know that I can also channel the positive attitude and mindset to help students excel where they were struggling previously.
