Fun Facts

The funny thing about me is that when I was little, I absolutely hated reading. The only book I could stand was the Captain Underpants series. Then, in sixth grade, my teacher was so encouraging with my writing that I ended up pursuing that as a hobby, then later as a passion. Go figure!

About Me

For me, writing is the sort of passion that needs to be expressed and shared. The passion started when I was in middle school, where I began writing creative fiction. From there the passion only grew. I began as an English Major at the University of North Georgia in 2012, where my love of writing was not only encouraged but, more importantly, developed and improved by a host of diverse courses taught by incredible professors. In 2014 I started as a Writing Tutor at the University's Writing Center, where it's been a complete pleasure to work one-on-one with students and their writing.
As you can probably tell, it was due to the helpful hands of great teachers that writing found a place in my heart; I want to be one of those figures for someone else. I want to show someone that writing can be expressive, enjoyable, and easy.
My goal in life is simply to do what I love and interact with as many people as possible--tutoring allows me to do both of those things.

Experience

I have a passion for English and the writing process. At the Writing Center where I'm employed, I work with students at every stage of the writing process from invention and brainstorming to editing and proofreading. I can help students with content-level problems (like organization), and I can also help with sentence-level problems (grammar, punctuation, and so on).

Approach

I think it's important not to take away students' personal voice in their writing, so when I work with students I make sure to give them the skills and tools needed to take their writing to the next level, independently, while keeping their style in tact.
