Fun Facts
As a young age I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I can remember being 9 years old, lining all of my teddy bears and baby dolls up and "teaching" them their daily lesson. This passion was nurtured when I reached 11 and my paternal grandmother would take me to work with her - she was a fourth grade Reading teacher. Fast forward 20 years later, and I, myself, am a fourth grade Reading teacher.
About Me
I am an Elementary School Teacher. I have 10 years experience of teaching, with 8 of those years being contractual. I graduated from Bowie State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education. I graduated magna cum laude, ending my college career with a 4.0 GPA and a 3.8 cumulative GPA.
Experience
During my years teaching, I have had experience with many different populations of students. I have worked with students with special needs, ranging from learning disabilities, the autism-spectrum, emotionally disabled, intellectually disabled, and talented and gifted students.
Approach
In order to be effective, I first must assess the student to see their current ability level and their individual needs. From there I can construct an individualized approach best for the student, taking in consideration their current level, preferred learning style, and what goals they are in hopes of achieving.

English Tutoring
I have taught Reading and Language Arts, including grammar, for 9 years at the elementary level. For the past two years, I have been departmentalized focusing mainly on teaching literacy. I have also worked with several students who were identified as English-learners and assisted with them learning the English language.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I have taught elementary math for nine years.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I have taught elementary reading, including reading comprehension, for 9 years.
Science Tutoring
I have taught elementary science 6 years. I have been trained in many areas of science (Life, Environmental, etc.) through the Summer Science Institute, held in Prince George's County, Maryland.
Social Studies Tutoring
I taught elementary Social Studies for 8 years. I was the Social Studies Chairperson for 3 years for my elementary school.
Study Skills Tutoring
In order to assist students with teacher-made assessments and also state/district assessments I have taught my students the best studying strategies that guarantees success.
Writing Tutoring
I have been trained in the renowned Writing Fundamentals Course, which teaches learners how to look at books as an author and not as a reader in order to enhance their own writing skills. I have taught lower-level and upper-level elementary writing, including cursive writing, for 9 years.
