Fun Facts
I am a seasoned arts and culture educator, with a passion for working with young people. I have played cello for over 40 years, and recently expanded my own education with a Masters degree in ethnomusicology, the study of World music and cultures.
About Me
I am the director of NOLA World Music and Artwerks, an arts and culture development firm with activities in the South and Midwest. I recently received my Masters at Liberty University in Ethnomusicology. I have been an educator since 1989.
Experience
Art and music are reflections of the human experience. As a community educator, I believe that my cultural sensibility and creativity in engaging people through human experiences are qualities that position me to inspire young people to learn.
Approach
“Diamonds are created under pressure.”
One of my teachers told me this on a day when I was having a particularly hard time finishing a project at school. My teacher explained that even through the most difficult times, we have the ability to shine with possibility. I believe in teaching as if it is not simply the facility of learning how to achieve knowledge, skill or technique. I teach as if it is a life lesson, a history lesson and journey to the core of the human soul.
