Fun Facts
I love sports, being active and getting outdoors!! Whether it be hiking, bouldering, playing pick up football, lifting weights or doing yoga, I love moving my body. I also love exploring new places and meeting new people, which I am excited to do as I'm new to Portland.
About Me
I graduated from Chapman University in May 2017 with a Biology major and a Spanish minor. I'm working as a medical scribe now at St. Vincent Medical Center, and I'm applying to medical school with the goal of becoming a physician. I love learning and connecting with people, and I feel that the tutor-student relationship mirrors that of the doctor and the patient.
Experience
At Chapman University, I tutored organic chemistry, biochemistry, biology and general chemistry for 3 years. I also taught supplemental course sessions in organic chemistry, biology and general chemistry for students needing extra help. I love working with students because in addition to helping them with their school work, I can be trusted friend when they have other issues they want to talk about.
Approach
I believe that every person learns a little bit differently. It is my job as a tutor to figure out the nuances to how each of my students learn, and create an environment that will support their learning style. I believe in understanding concepts over memorizing facts, and I think that having students apply information to solve new problems is a great way to solidify information in their minds and gauge their understanding of a topic.
