- Tip Number One: Be an
Early Bird
One of the most precious tips that I tell my students is to start as early as
possible. Starting early allows you to take your time while preparing and makes
you stand for your strengths and weaknesses. This helps you detect your flaws
early and work to improve them gradually. One may wonder what if my ACT Test is
so soon and I haven’t started yet, then, my advice is to start right NOW, and
you should follow me with the next tips.
- Tip Number Two: Do NOT get Distracted
I want you to picture this scene with me; you want to start preparing for your
ACT Test, so you open your browser and start searching for ACT-preparing
materials. Guess what, you get tons and tons of results, and you don’t know
where to start. My advice here is do NOT get distracted. You may have two situations:
if you are preparing for the test on your own, so I advise you to start with
previous standardized Exams. Second Situation, if you are preparing with an accredited
tutor, you should study the materials he gives you and not overwhelm yourself
with all other textbooks and websites.
- Tip Number Three: Be Patient
One thing that I usually notice is that many of the students get disappointed early.
They find themselves failing to get what they want in the first couple of months,
so they give up. My first piece of advice is do NOT fear failure. It is healthy
to fail at the beginning. Then, you will notice your progress and feel
confident and proud. Second, you must know that it is completely normal to fail
at the beginning- Thomas Edison failed 1000 times before he invented the light
bulb. I’ll tell you a secret. One of my students didn’t do well when he started
preparing for the ACT. He always complained, but after he followed the next
couple of tips, he ended up enrolling in Harvard.
- Tip Number Four: Slow Progress Still Means Progress
Do you know the story of the rabbit and tortoise? I guess you know, but if you
don’t, I’ll give you a hint. The tortoise ended up winning a race against the
rabbit, But HOW! The secret my friend is in the continuous persistent work,
even if it is slow. You will end up achieving what you want, so don’t be
disappointed by the slow progress. Instead, you shall be motivated and proud
because this progress means you are on the right path, and sooner or later you
will reach your destination.
- Tip Number Five: Aim High for your ACT Score
All of my students who got +35 scores on their ACT Test had one thing in common:
they aimed to get the highest score possible from the early beginning. They
dedicated themselves to practice all the way to get a 36 score. Eventually,
they could outdo
themselves. And go beyond their limits because they had no limits from the
beginning. Make your expectations high and your confidence even higher. I am
telling you true stories and not some fairytales in an old book. They were
exactly like you, and you can be one of them.
Finally,
don’t forget our golden rule “Practice. Practice. Practice.” Aim high and
always refresh your motivation. The road may be long, but the destination is
beautiful, so keep working and don’t be shy to seek help whenever you want.
