Fun Facts
Outside school, I really love music. I was in the choir for three years until I moved from my hometown to pursue my education.
I love standup comedy and videos of extreme sports on youtube. Also, I am a big fan of Mixed Martial Arts and Boxing.
As a lover of diversity, I am also very passionate about learning different languages and cultures. I speak a little Spanish already. Hola!
About Me
I am a sophomore Electrical Engineering & Robotics major at the Baltimore City Community College.
After my associate's degree, I would transfer to Morgan State University for a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Yay! And for my Master's, I plan to apply my knowledge in Robotics engineering, my conservative skills, and my ergonomic mentality to an Industrial Engineering degree.
My goal is to be a mega asset who understands intricately how things work, and how to make them better.
Experience
In my second semester, I was a volunteer tutor at my school's Math tutoring center. There, I was able to apply logical reasoning to solving questions and breaking down complex concepts to students.
I am also a tutor under the department of the Center for Academic Achievement (CAA) in my school.
In my most recent position, I have conducted zoom meetings to interact with students, and provided several written and online-sourced documents that have proved critically helpful to needy students.
Approach
My elementary schools taught me to cram and reproduce, and this really affected me at higher levels of my education. I had to teach myself how to breakdown concepts by mostly relating them to real-life scenarios.
I believe understanding concepts is key
For instance; If 2 plus a certain whole number is 5, the unknown can only be number 3. It seems easy but this employs the basic concepts of adding, counting, and logical elimination of the infinitely many other real/unreal numbers there is.

English Tutoring
As always, English is my favorite subject of all time. And this is not because I am a native speaker, or because my dad made me start reading really early, but because I have found that this global language opens the door to comprehension which in turn opens more doors to endless opportunities.
With an A in my first-ever college-level English class and a high B in my second college-level English class, I can say boldly that I am fit to take on any level of English there is.
So long as the English is written in English, I'm in.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I believe, personally, that Elementary math should be taught by concept-driven tutors and not instructors or professors who just want to deliver their speeches and get going.
I am a victim of such instructors and it took me a lot of time, and bad grades to get over it.
In my time as a volunteer math tutor in my school, I was able to understand that there is a way people understand and comprehend materials, and it varies for different people.
One of the most common ways however is conceptually visualizing math problems by relating them to real-life. This is how I operate, this is how I've been able to help many, and it sure does work.
Writing Tutoring
People don't believe that some are born writers, well, I am on the fence about this one. I am proud to say that I write well, to a good extent if I am being modest.
I tested out of all the developmental English classes and went straight into college English (ENG 101) on my first accuplacer exam at BCCC.
I got an A in my first ever College English class and went further to take Eng 200. It was really challenging especially because of the writings and because I was more familiar with British English. I got a high B in the class.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
What exactly can you do with any material if you cannot read it? Even if it is being read to you, how can it be useful if you cannot comprehend what is written therein?
I take comprehension seriously because it scales past the fences of academics and grades, and into real-life problems and everyday challenges.
Earlier in my academics, I struggled with reading because I was a slow reader. But I was good at comprehending. All I had to do, or rather, what worked for me, was to skim through the material first before diving into it properly. And Voila!
Math Tutoring
For as long as I recall, Math's been revered as the king of all subjects, and I am, again, on the fence about this one.
On the fence about its position and not about how to go about solving problems.
After completing Calculus I, II, & III, and after taking optimization problems (Calculus I) personally, I have come to a conclusion that math is not just a subject, Math is a way of life, and It is strategically integrated in our everyday life.
From planning my day, to scheduling appointments, to critical thinking, to decision making, to all the logic I put in my programming-in-C class to score an A this semester, to also scoring an A in Calculus II & III, I have come to conclude that Math is life. It may not be all fun, but it sure is worth it.
Homework Coach Tutoring
As I mentioned in my personal statement when I recently applied to my most recent tutoring position at my current college, on my path to discovering my own learning, I had to start by trying to help others figure out their own problems.
I homeschooled my younger brother earlier in his academic journey, and that's something I would forever be proud of.
Algebra Tutoring
One of the tricks I push for is the ability to reverse engineer math problems. Okay, no more fancy words.
Once I started to understand how to work problems from the end to the top, It made more sense, and I was able to anticipate and actually get the right answers even before finishing the workings of many math problems.
Health Tutoring
One of my favorite subjects of all time. I even just recently completed 2 health classes at my current college, HLF-100, and HLF-166, and got a more-than-awesomest feedback from my professor.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
I remember well, my pre-algebra days were the beginning of my dislike for math. But step by step, from introduction to what Integers actually were, to integer manipulations and real numbers, to rational exponents, inequalities, quadratic equations, and the many more fun stuff, I found that they were all just related.
I broke them down, one after the other, and I beat them all :)
Study Skills Tutoring
Over the years, I've been taught to memorize and reproduce materials.
I've had to unlearn that method as it's efficiency depreciates going higher in any field, and reteach myself how to conceptualize and understand topics rather than just cramming materials.
I am more than willing to share this marvelous trick shot.
