Fun Facts
I am a sports fanatic, even though basketball is my first love, I will watch, play and try any new sport! I am an only child that has moved extensively throughout the United States and the world. I love to learn about new people and their cultures through things like trying new foods, learning the language, and immersing myself into their culture. I also hope to soon learn how to scuba dive!
About Me
I am a first year masters student (Biology) at Georgia State University. I completed my B.S. in Biology with a minor in Religion at LaGrange College. Once I complete my masters degree (Fall 2014), I plan to go to medical school (Fall 2015) in California, where my ultimate goal is to be an OB/GYN.
In high school, I helped to tutor underprivileged kids in the local Bahamian communities once a week. In college, I never got the opportunity to continue to tutor because of my busy schedule. Now that I'm a TA in graduate school, I somewhat tutor my students outside of the classroom that need extra help, which has been very rewarding.
As a tutor, I often find most to be very bored with school work or the initial way that the work was presented wasn't suited to their needs, making it difficult to understand. Therefore, my approach is to always stay positive, because after all learning is very fun! But I also like to incorporate new ways to understand a topic. For instance, relating a certain topic to everyday life often times makes it easier to understand and apply.
