About Me
I started teaching with young children about ten years ago. I earned my Associates in Child Development and taught two-three years old's. After returning to college, I became interested in how people learn. This led me to become a trained denver">tutor at The University of Arizona's Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques (S.A.L.T.) Center. After finishing my bachelors degree in Creative Writing (and graduating Summa Cum Laude with Honors) I applied for and completed T.E.S.O.L. training.
I am a certified denver">tutor: I was trained and tutored at The University of Arizona's Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques (S.A.L.T.) Center. Recently, I have tutored graduate students (whose second language is English) with academic writing.
I have been an assistant instructor for composition and creative writing classes for four years.
I currently teach English as a Second Language.
Everyone learns differently. For example, some are kinesthetic learners and some do not learn well through listening. I try multiple approaches. I use friendly encouragement, questions, and goal setting. I also aim for intrinsic motivation--how to find a way for the learning to be interesting and engaging for the learner.
