Fun Facts
Every time I talk to people they tell me that I'm a huge nerd. I always have my nose in a book, and smile uncontrollably when I learn something new because I think it's really awesome to be able to understand so much. I also like to think I'm a pretty good cook, and it's always fun to try new food or eat an old food I enjoy a lot. Although history isn't my favorite subject, I read a lot about famous scientists like Einstein and newton">Newton.
About Me
I'm 19 years old and attending Arizona State University to be a physics teacher. Originally starting out as a physics major, I changed my degree because I want to show people how amazing physics and math can be. My dad recently became a teacher at Motorcycle Mechanics' Institute and he always tells me how much fun it is to teach students, so that may have affected my major choice a little bit too. Eventually I want to go to graduate school and get my Doctorate in Physics to teach at a University.
While in high school I took a class that let me visit a local elementary school four days a week to teach them fifth grade math. I also tutored a few lower division students and peers in everything from English and Literature to AP Calculus or AP Physics. Once at the university level I found myself helping friends and often unknown students with their physics homework. Now at Frog phoenix">Tutoring I am really excited to get out and help students as well as for the experience I will have for when I'm a teacher.
When someone comes to me for help with something I immediately try to see where they are struggling. That way I can show them how to do a problem and learn the process not the problem. I try to teach people how to fish, not how to watch me catch a fish for them. This way they can use what they know later, and generalize the information to all situations, not just one I help them with.
